Paul Walker, star of The Fast and the Furious, has died, PEOPLE confirms.
The actor died Saturday afternoon when a car he was in crashed and exploded in Santa Clarita, Calif. The driver also died.
Police released a statement about the accident: "When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene."
"This is an ongoing investigation," Deputy Heischuber of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station tells PEOPLE. "A solo car crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the city of Santa Clarita, on the outskirts of Valencia. A 911 call came in from a bystander."

A tribe in Kenya has decided to gift Prince William and Kate Middleton's first-born child with four heifers, a bull, and a goat in honor of his recent christening. The eight-year marriage was officially ended in Los Angeles court earlier this week
Actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have finalized their divorce two years after separating, bringing official closure for one of Hollywood’s most prominent couples.
The end to the eight-year marriage was made final on Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, with both actors agreeing not to pay spousal support.
In March, Moore, 51, had asked the court to grant her financial support from Kutcher, an unusual move for one of the top-earning women in Hollywood during the 1990s.
Kutcher, the star of CBS television comedy "Two and a Half Men,” filed for divorce from Moore in December 2012 after more than a year of separation. He cited irreconcilable differences with the "G.I. Jane” star.

Lindsey Vonn Returns to the Ski Slopes After Injury
Lindsey Vonn excitedly slipped on her ski boots and took to the slopes on Thanksgiving – just nine days after reinjuring her knee in Colorado.
"I went skiing today!" she posted on instagram along with a pic of herself in Vail.
The 29-year-old was derailed earlier this year after seriously injuring her right knee, and there were concerns that she wouldn't be able to compete at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in February after her latest injury.
"I'm confident it's going to be okay," the 2010 Olympic gold medalist told Today's Matt Lauer on Wednesday. "Fingers crossed I can be racing next week. I've worked so hard all summer to get to this point … I'm still confident … I still have a lot left to achieve … and I still have time before Sochi."

A hilarious impromptu dance war erupted Thursday on Instagram among several Dancing with the Stars veterans, beginning with a throwdown between Derek Hough and his season 14 partner, Maria Menounos.
Early in the day, Hough, 28, posted a video of himself and his family, including sister Julianne, boogying down to will.i.am's "That Power" while preparing dinner. "The key to a great meal?? Dance while you cook!" he wrote.
Menounos, 35, took that as a challenge, and posted a pair of videos of herself and her family doing their own kitchen choreography to Flo Rida's "Low." She wrote: "Dear Hough Family Kitchen Dancers – the Greeks invented war. Get a load of me and my girls. #thanksgivingdancewars."
