Adele's life is changed when she meets Emma, a young woman with blue hair, who will allow her to discover desire, to assert herself as a woman and as an adult. In front of others, Adele grows, seeks herself, loses herself, finds herself. Director: Abdellatif Kechiche Stars: Léa Seydoux, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Salim Kechiouche, Aurélien Recoing
The work that has engaged film reviewers all over the world in intellectual debate should have a strong opening weekend in the U.S., though we're interested to see what the word-of-mouth is over the next week or so; outside of the world of the revered New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis and her contemporaries, it could be received as a somewhat provocative sex drama saddlebagged by its male gaze and interminable length.

A lawyer finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking. Director: Ridley Scott Stars: Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem
The proggiest of Oscar prognosticators are all over Ridley Scott handling a Cormac McCarthy screenplay with a desirable cast that's so expansive it could barely fit on one of those special pull-out Vanity Fair covers. But to us it looks more like the preferred greasy-popcorn movie of the season. &nb

A murder in 1944 draws together the great poets of the beat generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs. Director: John Krokidas Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, Michael C. Hall, Ben Foster
When a cast such as this is paired with a first-time director, we can rely on the performances if the script and filmmaking aren't always the strongest. The seems to be the prevailing feeling here, at least with festival-goers, but we're unsure if their feedback will register since everyone is talking about the sex scene between Danielle Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan. We're surprised that Sony Pictures Classics didn't cut a new trailer teasing it right before opening weekend. &

Julia Roberts Never Googles Herself, Doesn't Want to Join Social Media
Julia Roberts is a lot of things to a lot of people, but there are two things she's definitely not: a narcissist and a masochist. Covering the December issue of Marie Claire magazine, the Oscar-winning actress and married mother of three says she's made a conscious decision to remain a luddite.
Unlike her peers, the Roberts doesn't use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to connect with fans. "It's kind of like cotton candy," she says of social media. "It looks so appealing and you just can't resist getting in there, and then you just end up with sticky fingers and it lasted an instant." &nb

MTV Censors Miley Cyrus’ Alleged Joint-Smoking Acceptance Speech (Video)
She pulled out what appeared to be a joint while thanking fans for the Best Video EMA — though American audiences didn’t see that
Miley Cyrus just can’t help herself at MTV Awards shows, but the network took action to block her most recent antics.
While accepting the trophy for Best Video for her hit "Wrecking Ball” at the network’s European Music Awards Sunday, the pop star thanked her fans — her "Smilers” — along with director Terry Richardson for "putting this all together.”
But then, this happened: ”You know, I couldn’t fit this award in my bag, but I did find this,” Cyrus said, as she pulled out what appeared to be a rolled marijuana cigarette. She lit the joint, took a few puffs and bowed off stage. ... Read more »

"Yes. I think within a couple of years," Lange told cohost Savannah Guthrie about her desire to give up acting. "I want a new adventure in life. I've been doing this quite a long time."

George Clooney Is Much Better Than Leonardo DiCaprio at Basketball, Says George Clooney
Here's what everyone knows about George Clooney: He is good-looking, he is friends with many famous people, he is very politically active, and he can party. Once or twice a year, another profile of the actor reaffirms these facts, sometimes throwing in a list of his recent pranks (what a lovable scoundrel!) or enumerating his recent humanitarian work (what a lovable saint!). It's Esquire's turn this month, with a profile doing just those things. It also includes a tiny bit of smack-talking about Leonardo DiCaprio and his basketball skills. But more important, his lack of life skills. &n
