Alec Baldwin is throwing punches in the Twitter ring once again. His latest target is country singer Hank Williams Jr., who vocalized anti-Obama sentiment at a Texas concert on Sunday.

"If Hank Williams Jr. wasn't such a pathetic, wheezing fossil, I'd have a talk with him,” Baldwin tweeted from his verified account on Tuesday.

"I think we need to call Hank Williams Jr what he is.... A broken-down, senile, racist coot,” he added.

The Twitter assault follows comments Williams Jr. reportedly made onstage between songs at the Stockyards Music Festival in Fort Worth.

Jason Reitman brings his "Live Read" series to the Toronto International Film Festival with a table read of Alan Ball's screenplay for "American Beauty," the Oscar-winner that premiered at TIFF in 1999.  The director of "Thank You for Smoking" and "Up in the Air" will announce the cast of the table read via his Twitter account over the next few days leading to the September 6 event.

Reitman began his popular "Live Read" program with LACMA in October 2011. The series always sells out. So far the actors reading classic film scripts have included "The Apartment” (Steve Carell and Natalie Portman), "The Princess Bride” (Paul Rudd), "Shampoo” (Bradley Cooper and Kate Hudson), "The Big Lebowski” (Seth Rogen), and "Reservoir Dogs,” read by an all-African American cast with Terrence Howard and Laurence Fishburne. The series will continue with LACMA starting in October of this year.

The summer take declined 5 percent from last year, but local filmmaker Pang Ho-cheung proved the man of the hour with his summer hit "Vulgaria."

According to the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association (MPIA), the third and concluding chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy rose high above the second-place holder of the summer top 10 in Hong Kong, The Amazing Spiderman, which took HK$62 million during the two-month period despite having a three-week head start.

Nevertheless, the increase in releases and diversity in offers only seemed to confuse the audience, whic ... Read more »
