Can I get a do-over please?
The nervous energy that arose during my chat with "Bachelorette" stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan at the film's junket last week was a little disconcerting, with Dunst in particular not taking well to my (I thought warranted) criticisms of her character Regan - a selfish, entitled, overbearing Maid of Honor whose savage instincts come increasingly to the fore after a wedding-dress mishap sends herself and two of her fellow bridesmaids (Fisher and Caplan) on a wild, dysfunctional odyssey through the city in a quest to repair the damage.
The thing is, I actually really liked the movie. Directed by Leslye Headland (who adapted the script from her own play) and also starring Rebel Wilson as the bride, "Bachelorette" is a dirtier, grungier, nastier version of "Bridesmaids" that ultimately goes to some pretty dark pla

A year after the Academy honored the world famous Oprah Winfrey and James Earl Jones at its third annual Governors Awards ceremony, it has decided to honor at its fourth four individuals who are decidedly not household names, but whose immense contributions to the industry should not be understated, and who will have no shortage of great Hollywood stories to share. At the Dec. 1 ceremony, 81-year-old stuntman Hal Needham, 87-year-old documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, and 80-year-old producer George Stevens, Jr. will receive honorary Oscars, and 61-year-old studio executive Jeffrey Katzenberg will be presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which has only been given out 34 times in the past. Needham, who trained under John Wayne's stunt double, began working regularly in the 1950s. He most frequently doubled for Burt Reynolds, in whose guest house he lived for many years, and for w

The release was later than anticipated but a decision was finally made by the Academy's Board of Governors on this year's Honorary Oscar recipients. And names long considered due for the recognition, actresses Doris Day and Angela Lansbury among them, will have to wait a little longer.
The organization has announced that stunt man Hal Needham, documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker and multi-hyphenate George Stevens Jr. will receive recognition at this year's Governors Awards ceremony. DreamWorks co-founder and philanthropist Jeffrey Katzenberg has been tapped to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Needham's work has been seen on more than 300 feature films, including "Blazing Saddles," "Chinatown," "How the West Was Won," "Little Big Man" and "The Spirit of St. Louis." In 1986, the Academy presented him with a Scientific and Engineering Award for

Walter White and Joan Holloway are Lester and Carolyn Burnham.
Bryan Cranston and Christina Hendricks have been added to the cast of director Jason Reitman's "American Beauty" live-read at this year's Toronto Film Festival, with the pair of AMC stars slated to "portray" the dysfunctional central couple from the film (originally played by Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening) in a staged reading of Alan Ball's Oscar-winning screenplay. Also boarding the "project" is actor Woody Harrelson, who will "play" Frank Fitts, the closeted ex-Marine and neighbor of the Burnhams who was memorably played by Chris Cooper on-screen.
"When I think of those two roles, I think of Bryan Cranston and Christina Hendricks because they know how to balance domestic drama while making it scary and hilarious at the same time,” Reitman told EW, which got the exclusive on the Cranston and H

The movie, about a baseball scout on the verge of retirement, was directed by Eastwood's protege Robert Lorenz and also stars Amy Adams, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake.
TOKYO -- Trouble with the Curve, starring Clint Eastwood and directed by his protégé Robert Lorenz, will close the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival on Oct. 28.
The film tells the tale of an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) with failing vision who takes a road trip to check out a hot prospect with his daughter, played by Amy Adams, during which they finally connect with each other. John Goodman and Justin Timberlake also play scouts in the film, the latter acting as love interest for Adams’ character, while Eastwood’s son Scott appears as a baseball player. The film will be released by Warner Entertainment Japan on Nov. 23. It opens in the U.S. on Sep

It's Robert Pattinson vs. Kristen Stewart for your attention tomorrow night. While Stewart will be at the Toronto Film Festival, making her first public appearance since scandalizing Twi-hards everywhere, Pattinson will be in Los Angeles at the MTV Video Music Awards. Where, yes, he'll be engaging in the near-annual tradition of introducing brand-new Twilight Saga footage for the screaming masses a few months before the latest installment hits theaters. Though it is the first time he'll be doing it under a cloud of weirdness! You won't believe what Kristen Stewart was wearing on her flight to Toronto Usually the honors are performed by a trio, but this year, Stewart just happens to be busy and "only" Taylor Lautner and other castmembers will reportedly be joining Pattinson in offering up an exclusive 90-second sneak peek at B

Because Obama versus the VMAs isn't a world anyone wants to live in, MTV is bumping up this Thursday's award show by an hour to avoid conflict. You'll now be able to catch Frank Ocean and the VMAs from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., then watch Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention from Charlotte, N.C. Don't forget to check out Nicki Minaj's Twitter account, where the newly announced Romney supporter will surely deliver a detailed rebuttal to the president's address.

Does anyone not completely associate The Price Is Right with Bob Barker? Sure — the show's network for the past 40 years, CBS. A 40th anniversary special that aired Tuesday didn't include or invite Barker, though he hosted the show for 35 years and Price has filmed in a space called the Bob Barker Studio since 1998. Barker says CBS "chose to ignore me, which is fine." BARKER BURN. Begin the countdown until CBS's official apology and/or gesture of recompense.

Trailer for trailers and press releases for trailers. What a world. Though I guess Disney's big brou-ha-ha around the trailer for Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" is a little more understandable given the robust pomp and circumstance they're bringing to its debut.

If you shed a few tears watching the series finale of TNT's "The Closer," you weren't alone.
Sitting down to chat with me about her new supernatural horror flick "The Possession" last week (incidentally, the film came in number one at the box office over the weekend with more than $21 million in ticket sales), series star Kyra Sedgwick spoke briefly on the "emotional" end of the long-running crime drama, which ran for seven seasons and netted Segwick both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her portrayal of former CIA interrogator Brenda Leigh Johnson.
"It was heartbreaking!" said the actress of the show's final episode. "I mean it really was, it was very boo-hooey."
Calling the last six episodes of the top-rated series "among our very best," Sedgwick believes the show's fans came away gratified by the earnestness with which they tr
