Amy Robach's Husband Tweets an Update Following Her Double Mastectomy
Amy Robach's Husband Tweets an Update Following Her Double Mastectomy

Amy Robach underwent a double bilateral mastectomy on Thursday, Nov. 14, after revealing on Good Morning America that she had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The ABC News correspondent's husband, Andrew Shue, provided an update for her many supporters following the major surgery.

"@AndrewShue on behalf of my brave girl. She came through surgery beautifully," the Melrose Place alum tweeted from his wife's Twitter handle on Friday, Nov. 15. He continued: "And so appreciates the genuine love and support."

The 40-year-old journalist told viewers on Monday, Nov. 11, that she had been diagnosed with the disease following a live mammogram on the news program. The mother of two would not have known about the cancer were it not for the screening she underwent on "GMA Goes Pink Day" last month.

And while Robach needed some urging, she wrote in a personal piece on ABC News, "if several producers and even Robin Roberts herself hadn't convinced me that doing this on live television would save lives, I would never have been able to save my own."

As for the plan of action following her mastectomy, Robach said on GMA her road to a full recovery is still unknown.

"I'll have reconstructive surgery and we don't know, we have discussed, there's a lot you don't know until you have the surgery," Robach said following her announcement. "I don't know about chemo, I don't know what stage I am, I don't know if it spread, so we'll find out those things in the weeks to come."

We wish Amy, as well as her family, all the best during her recovery.
