Meryl Streep is back after a year off from the Oscar race with a central role in the film adaptation of Tracy Letts's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. With Letts translating his own work to the screen, we have great faith in second go-round as director (of course, he's helmed episodes of "Shameless", too). The only question mark: This is a Weinstein Company release, and since the studio invested in a clutch of year-end awards candidates, which one will emerge as their frontrunner? Each year, at least one of their gems is cast aside.
