Luke and Kate are co-workers at a Chicago brewery, where they spend their days drinking and flirting. They're perfect for each other, except that they're both in relationships. Luke is in the midst of marriage talks with his girlfriend of six years, Kate is playing it cool with her music producer boyfriend Chris. But you know what makes the line between "friends" and "more than friends" really blurry? Beer. Director: Joe Swanberg Stars: Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, Ron Livingston
Imagine if you were a self-employed creative type, really productive, and most of the time someone bought your work, and if not, you just put out the work on your own. Those are pretty much the modes Joe Swanberg operates in -- do you know he's made a dozen movies over the past three years? There are more familiar faces starring in his latest, which explores similar tricky romantic themes seen in his earlier scenarios. Personally, I tend to like it when characters and subplots come and go from Swanberg's projects, but it will be interesting to see how people react as his audience expands. Oh, and he co-stars in another release this week, You're Next.
