A lot has been said about Kristen Wiig's cautious (?) and/or strategic (?) post-Bridesmaids choices, and her partnership here with American Splendor co-directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini definitely has indie-film tongues flapping about. The story seems a bit like Young Adult without the obsessive-love component -- a mid-life crisis in a vacuum, perhaps. Kristen Wiig can turn a single word into a laugh, so her mother-daughter banter with Annette Bening ought to be hysterical.
