Reads like Hisako Matsui had an incredibly challenging time making this story, what with having to depict what American and Japanese societies looked like a century ago, and we understand the Isamu Noguchi Foundation declined her any assistance. Overall awareness of the film seems rather low, but the presence of Christina Hendricks and Emily Mortimer should help achieve some home-screen longevity.
