G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) Certificate PG-13 110 min - Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi | Thriller The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Director: Jon M. Chu Stars: Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, Byung-hun Lee The future looks bleak for Duke, but what a decision made by the studio to postpone the release of the Joe sequel for almost a year in order to up the Channing Tatum factor after reaction to the first trailer proved his movie-star status. We're bracing for a box-office takeover this weekend and perhaps an announcement that a third installment will be made. &n

The Happy Poet (2010) 85 min - Comedy | Drama | Romance A poet who starts a health-conscious food stand finds support from his friends, as well as a potential love match with one of his customers. But will unexpected complications jeopardize his dreams of a hot dog-free future? Director: Paul Gordon Stars: Paul Gordon, Jonny Mars, Chris Doubek, Liz Fisher The most patient critics have likened Paul Gordon's Austin-set eco-comedy to Slacker for its subculture focus and gone to certain lengths to differentiate the work from the mumblecore genre, which is enough for me to consider watching it.

InAPPropriate Comedy (2013) Certificate R Comedy In this comedy film, a computer tablet full of the world's most hilariously offensive apps breaks through the borders of political correctness, stirring up cultural anarchy. Director: Vince Offer Stars: Adrien Brody, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Rob Schneider By now, most pundits have stopped riffing on the potential reasons for Adrien Brody signing on to star in the directorial debut of the ShamWow Guy; all the Lindsay Lohan comments and jokes have aged. So, to paraphrase a friend: This is the kind of seemingly harmless release that inflicts the most damage on movie critics, who cannot opt to unsee it. &n

Come Out and Play (2012) Certificate R 105 min - Horror A couple take a vacation to a remote island - their last holiday together before they become parents. Soon after their arrival, they notice that no adults seem to be present - an observation that quickly presents a nightmarish reality. Director: Makinov Stars: Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vinessa Shaw, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Gerardo Taracena We don't know much about director Manikov, or whether the path he's taken to promote his first film is a nod to performance art, but his on-the-nose remake of the cult film ¿Quién puede matar a un niño? has earned him Shyamalan-like levels of disdain from genre reviewers. &nb

Hunky Dory (2011) 110 min - Drama | Music In the heat of the summer of 1976, drama teacher Vivienne fights sweltering heat and general teenage apathy to put on an end-of-term version of Shakespeare's The Tempest. Director: Marc Evans Stars: Minnie Driver, Kristian Gwilliam, Adam Byard, Aled Pugh Since it is no longer hard to sell audiences on contemporary musicals, we're a bit surprised by Hunky Dory's relatively low profile prior to its release. Word of mouth for Minnie Driver's performance and the presence of emerging star Aneurin Barnard -- who looks like a perfect cast addition to the next season of "Game of Thrones" -- could mean a long shelf life with fans of all things feel-good. &n

TV Review: NBC's 'Dracula' is a toothless reimagining [This review is way the heck too long, but I'm writing it on the behalf of Young Daniel, who dressed up as Dracula every Halloween for around 10 years.] NBC doesn't really know how to explain what "Dracula" is, which explains why they're doing it so poorly. "The legend takes new life," reads the primary tagline that you might have seen on billboards, buses and on-air promos for the drama, which premieres on Friday (October 25) night. The tagline across the show's official website takes a different approach and goes with "Jonathan Rhys Myers is America's Original Vampire." It's much easier to quantify why the latter approach is frustratingly off-base. First of all, NBC should probably know the star of its show spells his last name "Meyers." And that he's Irish. And that he's playing Carpathian in "Dracu

There Are Currently Two Independence Day 2 Scripts Is it us or does Roland Emmerich sound like he's creeping ever closer to madness every time someone brings up Independence Day 2? The director revealed to Indiewire that there are currently "two versions" of the ID2 script in play, one of which does not include Will Smith's character at all. Emmerich maintained that things are "looking good” for the Smith-filled version, though. Then he "just laughed.” Hopefully Roland doesn’t stress too much about it. As long as he figures out a logical way to resurrect Harvey Fierstein's character, we'll all be satisfied. &n

That's how she captioned a selfie she posted today that she snapped during a photo shoot for her and Kylie Jenner's PacSun holiday collection. And not only does she not look particularly tired, but with her kohl-rimmed eyes mostly hidden underneath the brim of her cap and her glossy pink lips arranged in a perky pout... She looks just like big sister Kim Kardashian! In another pic from the shoot, Kendall shows off her long legs in barely there leather shorts and stiletto gladiator heels.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Reunite in London for Dinner Date Maybe blonds do have more fun. A still disconcertingly light-haired Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, rumored to be on the rocks because they hadn't been seen together in quite some time, were spotted on their way out of Scott's Restaurant in London's Mayfair District earlier tonight. On-the-rocks rumors extinguished for now! For date night, Depp, 50, was doing his signature dark-suit, white-shirt-with-an-open-collar thing, while Heard, 27, wore a dainty pink dress. The handsome Rum Diary costars hadn't been photographed together since July. Depp, who debuted blond locks earlier this month (he might be blonder than his girlfriend now!), has been in the U.K. shooting Rob Marshall's big-screen adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods.

Will Smith to Star In Selling Time We've got all the Will Smith news that's fit to print! While he may or may not be heading up ID 2, Smith will be returning to his sci-fi roots in the upcoming thriller Selling Time. The After Earth actor is reportedly attached to star in the 20th Century Fox movie in which the protagonist can revisit the worst day of his life in exchange for his life expectancy being lowered seven years. Seems like a small price to pay to, say, bail out of The Legend of Bagger Vance in time.

Kate Middleton Wears Jenny Packham to Benefit Gala in London (Yes, Again!) No glitz, but plenty of glamour! After Kate Middleton wowed the world in a gorgeous cream Alexander McQueen coat dress at Prince George's christening at St. James' Chapel yesterday, she reemerged tonight in yet another stunning style. While attending Thursday's 100 Women in hedge Funds benefit gala, the Duchess of Cambridge opted for Jenny Packham for the third time since welcoming her son three-months ago. This is only the second time the new mom has attended a major black-tie event since giving birth. At her first red carpet appearance she opted for a sequin Jenny Packham dress. This time, she went for a very understated yet elegant navy gown. The off-the-shoulder silk tulle dress also featured a black velvet belt. Understandably the royal baby did not join his mom at the event, which was held at

'Transformers 4' Hong Kong set sees a second extortion attempt Police are investigating a second reported extortion attempt at the Hong Kong film set of the latest Transformers movie, authorities say. A government statement received overnight said a production company crew member was setting up on the roof of a building in Kowloon on Tuesday when four men "intimidated her and asked for money.” She called police, who arrested a 35-year-old man. He’s being held pending further inquiries. The three others are still wanted. The case has been classified as blackmail, and a police anti-triad unit is investigating. Triads are Chinese organized crime gangs. Police arrested two brothers last week after director Michael Bay was assaulted at another filming location. They allegedly demanded 100,000 Hong Kong dollars ($13,000). Transformers: Age of Extinction is set for release in June 2014.

2013 Gotham Nominations, Led by '12 Years a Slave,' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' and 'Upstream Color,' Boosts Spirit and Oscar Hopefuls Steve McQueen's slavery drama "12 Years a Slave" is leading this year's Gotham Awards with three nominations, for Best Feature, Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Breakthrough Actor (Lupita Nyong'o). This will boost its profile heading into the year-end awards corridor. Meanwhile, the Coen brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis" and Shane Carruth's "Upstream Color" each received two nominations, including Best Feature. This could help the Oscar perennials' "Inside Llewyn Davis," which is currently in the middle of the Oscar pack, while "Upstream Color" is more likely to be heading for Indie Spirit contention. The other two titles in that category are Richard Linklater's "Before Midnight" and David Lowery's "Ain't Them Bodies Saints," two dark-horse indies who need more spotlights like t
