Dolph Springer wakes up one morning to realize he has lost the love of his life, his dog, Paul. During his quest to get Paul (and his life) back, Dolph radically changes the lives of others -- risking his sanity all the while. Director: Quentin Dupieux Stars: Jack Plotnick, Todd Giebenhain, Eric Judor, Alexis Dziena
Quentin Dupieux might be a film-festival programmer's dream with his surrealistic narrative approach, oddball visuals, and composer alter ego (Mr. Oizo). I'm sure it was a blast to see Rubber, his last outing, in a theater full of pepped-up journalists and general film enthusiasts, but personally the hype didn't translate the two separate times I watched it. That said, the presence of William Fichtner playing a "professional pet lover", combined with a relatable premise (a missing dog instead of a killer tire), might be the sort of hyper-realistic adventure we all need this season.
